Win is a three-year-old girl from Burma who lives with her parents and older sister in Tak Province, Thailand. Her father is an agriculture day laborer and her mother stays home to look after Win.
In September 2023, when Win was two years old, she developed a fever and her parents noticed that a lump was protruding from her throat making them worry that it could be a severe condition. They took her to a nearby clinic right away where a doctor examined her with an ultrasound and found a mass on her throat. Doctors were able to address Win’s fever and since no other symptoms were visible, the parents decided not to seek treatment again for the mass since they could not afford to pay for it. Since then, the mass has slowly increased in size and now the doctor recommends Win receive surgery to remove the cyst. Her parents worry a lot about the mass growing bigger over time, leading to complications and other medical obstacles.
Win traveled to our medical partner’s care center, Mae Sot General Hospital, to receive care and on December 19th, surgeons will remove the cyst. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1500 to fund Win’s procedure and provide her relief from the impact of the cyst.
Every time her father accompanies her to the clinic he cannot go to work, cutting short their income again. With tears in her eyes, Win’s mother stated, “She loves to dance every time she hears music somewhere. I want her to grow up healthy and educated and we will do everything we can, as parents, to support her in the future.” Her father added, “Thank you so much, to BMCF and the donors.”
