Ajuna is a 32-year-old Ugandan security guard. He grew up with his maternal grandmother, as both of his parents passed away when he was young.
In 2000, Ajuna first felt a sharp pain in his right inguinal region. He later noticed swelling, however both the pain and the swelling faded before he was able to go to a hospital. In 2007, the swelling and pain returned. Ajuna was diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia, but it was too small to be operated on. By 2013, surgery was finally advised.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to cover the cost of Ajuna’s hernia repair surgery. The procedure is scheduled to take place on June 28 and, once completed, will hopefully allow Ajuna to live more comfortably.
“After surgery I will continue [being a] security guard,” adds Ajuna.
