Hok is a 67-year-old man from Cambodia. He is married and lives with his wife and youngest child, who works at a bank. He has four children, all of whom are married and visit him with their families. He enjoys caring for his grandchildren and spending time with them. In 2014, Hok was involved in a motor vehicle accident that caused a fracture of his left femur. Despite several surgeries over the years, the fracture has remained unhealed. The unhealed fracture and protruding, painful nail in his left femur make walking difficult. He currently relies on crutches to move around. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On September 3rd, Hok will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will remove the old nail, repair the fracture with plates and screws, and use a bone graft from his iliac crest to support healing of the femur and reduce the pain and discomfort caused by the damaged hardware. His family can contribute $100, but needs help raising $500 more to fund his procedure and care. Hok said, “I hope this surgery will help my leg heal properly and reduce the pain caused by the protruding nail. I look forward to walking more comfortably and returning to my normal daily activities.”

Moth is a 32-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He is married and lives with his wife, who works in a garment factory, and their two children, one in Grade 5 and the other in kindergarten. Before his injury, he enjoyed playing volleyball with friends in his village. On August 9, 2026, Moth was lifting a 30-foot iron pole while working on his home when it came into contact with an electrical wire. The resulting electrical burns severely injured both his hands and feet. Although he received treatment, he continued to have painful wounds and dead tissue on his feet, requiring further treatment at Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). His injuries have made daily activities difficult because of pain and limited movement in his left wrist and fingers. He has been unable to return to his usual work, leaving his wife to support the family alone. The cost of treatment has also placed the family under significant financial pressure, and he still has debts to repay. Moth has been experiencing pain and has damaged, blackened skin on both feet, with dead tissue and an infection around the toes of his right foot. His doctors recommend an amputation of the 4th and 5th toes of the right foot and the big toe of the left foot to prevent symptoms from getting worse. Moth will undergo surgery on October 27th, and once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. He can contribute $25, but needs help raising $563 more to fund his procedure and care. Moth said, “I hope this surgery will help my feet heal and reduce my pain. I want to use my hands more easily and return to work when I’m able. My wife is supporting our family alone right now, and I hope to recover so I can help her and rebuild our lives together.”

Sahili is a nine-month-old baby boy from Tanzania. He is the youngest of four children and lives with both parents, who are farmers cultivating maize to provide food for their family. Sahili is an active and friendly baby whose bright, cheerful smile brings joy to those around him. Sahili has clubfoot on both feet, a condition in which both feet turn inward and downward. Without appropriate treatment, this condition can affect his ability to stand and walk comfortably as he grows. It may also make wearing ordinary shoes difficult. Sahili's family traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, Kafika House. Sahili has been scheduled to begin treatment with gentle manipulation and serial casting to gradually improve the alignment of his feet. Surgeons will begin clubfoot treatment on October 26th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Sahili's clubfoot repair. After treatment, Sahili has the opportunity to develop properly aligned feet, wear ordinary shoes, and learn to walk comfortably as he grows. Sahili's mother shared, "We are thankful that we have learned our son's condition can be treated. We hope he will grow up with straight feet, walk, and enjoy playing with his siblings."
