Papalang’ is a 10-year-old Maasai boy from Tanzania. He lives with his parents, who are livestock keepers, and helps support the family while in school. Papalang’ is currently in fourth grade, where he enjoys mathematics and geography. He hopes to study agricultural science in the future so he can be a better farmer and improve livestock practices within his community.
Papalang’ has been living with a burn scar contracture affecting his right foot. The tightening scar has made walking difficult, creating challenges in attending school, playing with others, and helping with everyday tasks at home. Despite these difficulties, he remains motivated and committed to his education.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Papalang’ receive treatment. On March 24th, surgeons at their care center will perform a contracture release surgery and skin graft. Papalang’ needs help to fund this $832 procedure. This will help restore mobility, reduce discomfort, and allow him to walk more comfortably as he continues pursuing his education.
Papalang’ says, “I want to walk without pain so I can go to school every day and learn so as to help my family and my community.”
