Ron is a 63-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia, with three sons, one daughter, and six grandchildren. She lives with her youngest daughter who is a rice farmer as her husband died five years ago. Ron enjoys listening to the monks praying on the radio or at the pagoda near her house.
Five years ago, Ron developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Ron learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours with her son seeking treatment. On September 25th, doctors will perform phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Ron said, “I want to see better after surgery so I can recognize the faces of my relatives and be able to take care of my grandchildren more.”
