Naw Sha is a 33-year-old mother who lives with her husband, daughter, sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, two nieces, and nephew in a refugee camp in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand. Originally from Karen State, Burma, she fled to Thailand with her family in 2012 due to armed conflict. Currently, she and her sister-in-law are homemakers, while her daughter, nieces and nephew go to school in the refugee camp. Her husband and her brothers-in-law are day laborers. During her free time, Naw Sha enjoys cooking, spending time with her daughter, nieces and nephew, and teaching them Burmese. Naw Sha is currently expecting her second child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a Caesarean section (C-section) because of her high-risk pregnancy. By delivering with a C-section, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF) is helping Naw Sha undergo a C-Section on December 8th. This procedure will cost $1500, and Naw Sha needs your support in raising money to fund her care. Naw Sha said, “In the future, if I had an opportunity, I would like to work with a health organization in the refugee camp as a nurse to earn more money to support my family."

Kyar is an elderly woman from Thailand. She lives with her two granddaughters, two grandsons and a great-grandchild. She is retired and helps with cleaning their home. One of her granddaughters goes to school and the other granddaughter and her grandsons work as community health workers. On November 20th, Kyar slipped on the wet bathroom floor, and fractured her left hip. Currently, she experiences pain in her left hip and she cannot walk. She needs someone to assist her when she needs to go to the bathroom or shower. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Kyar will undergo surgery to reset her fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for December 1st and will cost $1,500. This procedure will help her walk again and live pain-free. Kyar said, "I feel sad that I have to go through this and my grandchildren need to take time off from work to accompany and assist me. I am very thankful to all the donors for their support of my treatment."

Lucia is a baby from southern Bolivia. Her mother stays home with her, and her father is a delivery driver. Lucia was born with a heart condition called coarctation of the aorta. A major blood vessel leading to the heart is too small, which leaves Lucia weak and unable to properly grow. Additionally, she has turner syndrome. Lucia needs surgery to open the aorta to its full size. This will allow blood to flow more easily so she can grow up healthy. Lucia's mother states: "Our family is so happy to know that our daughter can finally have this surgery; we have been hoping for this opportunity since she was born."
