Naomi is a 44-year-old widowed woman from Kenya. She has three children. Since her husband passed away when the children were still young, she has been supporting the family with the small income she earns from selling vegetables at her stall.
About four years ago, Naomi began to experience troubling symptoms, including a small nodule on her neck, and sought care at a local dispensary. She was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Nazareth Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a nodular goiter. If left untreated, the goiter will continue to enlarge and may lead to complications such as thyrotoxicosis. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Naomi receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on December 18th. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $633, and she and her family need help raising money.
“I would greatly appreciate it if you supported me, so that I can get this treatment and be able to live longer and at peace to see my children grow,” said Naomi.
