Denzel is 13 years old and an eighth-grader from Kenya. She lives in an orphanage.
Since March 2026, Denzel has been experiencing pain in her right hip. Initially, she was given pain medication, but the pain continued to worsen. She was taken to several hospitals in search of relief, but her condition only deteriorated. Eventually, the pain became so severe that she could no longer walk on her own and had to stop attending school.
Denzel was referred to our medical partner’s care center, AIC Kijabe Hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with a chronic infection in her right hip. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Denzel receive treatment. On June 18th, surgeons will perform a debridement to remove the infection and preserve the joint. Now, Denzel needs help to fund this $505 procedure.
Denzel says, “I can’t walk on my own because of the pain in my hip, but I hope I can heal and go back to school soon.”
