Junior is an 11-year-old primary school student from Uganda. He is the third-born child in a family of four children, all of whom are school-going. His parents depend on small-scale farming to provide food for their family and earn a modest income to pay school fees and meet other household needs.
Junior has lived with a swelling in his groin since birth. Over the years, the swelling has gradually increased in size and has become painful. Due to this, Junior is no longer attending school, and is unable to run, play with friends, or participate in regular childhood activities.
Worried, Junior’s mother brought him to Rwibaale Hospital where he was assessed and underwent an ultrasound scan. He has been diagnosed with a left inguinoscrotal hernia, a condition where abdominal tissue protrude through a weak spot in the abdominal wall and extend downwards. The medical team has recommended hernia repair surgery to treat his condition.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Junior receive treatment. On October 13th, he has been scheduled to undergo hernia repair surgery to relieve his pain, and prevent potentially life-threatening complications. Now, Junior’s family needs help to fund this $234 procedure.
His mother says: “I look forward to my son receiving treatment, get healthy, and resume school.”
