Brian is a playful five-year-old boy from Kenya. He is the youngest of three children. His mother describes him as a very clever and curious child who is always eager to know what people are doing. His mother earns a living by washing clothes for neighbors, while his father picks tea and flowers on neighboring farms.
Two weeks ago, while bathing Brian, his mother noticed something unusual in a sensitive area of his body. A neighbor advised her to take Brian to the hospital, where a scan revealed that Brian has a left inguino-scrotal hernia. He needs surgery, but the could not afford it.
Brian was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Nazareth Hospital, where doctors explained that Brian needs surgery or he would be at risk of complications such as strangulation or infection. Fortunately, on December 14th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $517 to fund Brian’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Brian’s mother shared, “I am worried about my son. I seek for assistance so that he can be treated. I wish to see him grow up like other children.”
