Meet Irako, a newborn baby girl from Kenya. She is the second born in a family of two. Her mother is a housewife and her father sustains a small income from casual labor jobs around their community.
Irako has a life-threatening build-up of fluid in her brain called hydrocephalus. This causes her enlarged head size and dangerous intracranial pressure. It also reduces her vision and gives her what her doctors call “sunset eyes”.
For $980, we can fund a shunt incision to start draining the fluid from Irako’s head. This will reduce her intracranial pressure and let her live a healthy normal life. “I pray that my daughter will receive treatment,” Irako’s mother says, “and that she will be able to recover quickly. I have nothing to pay for my daughter’s treatment.”
Let’s fund this surgery for Irako so she can live a healthy life!
