Deus is a 45-year-old father of seven children from Uganda. He practices small-scale farming with his wife to provide food for their family, and produce a surplus for sale to meet other household needs.
For more than ten years, Deus has lived with a swelling in a sensitive area. The swelling began causing pain about a year ago, with the pain occurring intermittently. He also frequently experiences back pain, general weakness, and episodes of fever. His condition has become so severe that he stopped working because whenever he attempts to work, he becomes unwell and experiences significant pain.
Deus has tried using local herbs to manage his condition, but unfortunately, they have not provided any relief. He once consulted a doctor at a local clinic and was advised that surgery would be necessary to treat the condition. However, because he could not afford the cost of surgery, he continued living with the swelling for another year.
A friend who previously received treatment at Rwibaale Hospital encouraged Deus to seek proper medical care there. Deus traveled to the hospital for evaluation. On September 2nd, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Deus needs help raising $153 to fund this procedure and alleviate his symptoms.
Deus says, “I hope to find relief from the general body weakness and pain after treatment.”
