Yi is a 65-year-old mother of five from Cambodia. She has four grandchildren, and enjoys listening to the radio, watching Thai movies on television, and looking after her grandchildren.
One year ago, Yi developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her tearing, blurry vision, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Yi learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On August 6, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I hope that I am able to see clearly and can help take care of my grandchildren.”
