Neema is a five-year-old girl and the seventh child in a family of nine children. She lives in Katavi with her guardian, while her parents reside in Tabora. Neema’s parents farm for food and casual day jobs, working on farms to earn an income.
Neema was born with bilateral clubfoot, where her feet are twisted. Although she is able to walk, she cannot cover long distances because she starts feeling pain and getting fatigued. She cannot wear shoes and relies on ill-fitting slippers.
Neema’s parents had never sought treatment for her condition until they saw a child who received successful treatment at our medical partner’s center. Neema had to travel for two days with her aunt to reach our medical partner’s facility. Neema needs manipulation, casting, and corrective surgery to correct her feet.
Fortunately, our medical partner African Mission Healthcare can help. Neema is scheduled for bilateral clubfoot surgery on August 2nd. Our medical partner is requesting $1,171 to fund surgery, supplies, medication, nursing care, and treatment.
Neema’s guardian says: “Please help Neema. We feel like this condition will limit her so much when she grows older.”
