Safina is an 8-month-old from Cambodia who lives with her parents and her 8-year-old brother. Her father works in a garment factory, and her mother is a homemaker. Safina enjoys taking naps, drinking milk, and eating porridge.
Safina was born with bilateral congenital vertical talus, a condition that causes her feet to bend abnormally, and she was also diagnosed with dislocated hips. If left untreated, she may have difficulty walking in the future. To correct these conditions and support her ability to walk in the future, Safina will need to undergo an adductor tenotomy and a closed reduction on both hips.
On April 24th, Safina will undergo these procedures through our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). After the surgery, Safina will be able to grow stronger and have a better chance of walking properly as she gets older. CSC is requesting $485 to fund this surgery, which includes the cost of the operation, hospital stay, medication, and follow-up care.
Safina’s mother shared, “I hope my daughter can be healthy and happy as she grows up.”
