Baby of Christina is a five-day-old infant from Tanzania. His mother cooks and sells mandazi, or fried bread, outside of their rented house while his father works as a conductor in the luggage trucks.
Baby of Christina has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of his condition, Baby of Christina has been experiencing an increasing head circumference. Without treatment, Baby of Christina will experience severe physical and developmental delays. However, this treatment is costly for their family. They are not able to afford this much-needed treatment for their new son and are appealing for financial help.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $765 to cover the cost of surgery for Baby of Christina that will treat his hydrocephalus. The procedure is scheduled to take place on November 2nd and will drain the excess fluid from Baby of Christina’s brain. This will reduce intracranial pressure and greatly improve his quality of life. With proper treatment, Baby of Christina will hopefully develop into a strong, healthy young boy.
Baby of Chistina’s mother shared, “Please help me treat my son, it has been a difficult two days for my family, but we are hopeful that he will be treated and be okay. Please help us.”
