Eunice is joyful that she is now home with her new baby girl.

“I had a terrible long term labor, but my delivery was safe and good,” says Eunice. “The treatment I and my baby received from the hospital really made her to be strong.” Eunice hopes that all women in her community can have the same maternal services she received because the mortality rate has been a burden for so long.

Eunice is 22 and pregnant with her fourth child. She farms and sells sugar cane, bananas, and sweet potatoes in Rongo (the town market). Eunice has been taking what she learns at Lwala Community Alliance to heart. She now has a dish rack, shower and a latrine—precautions that will help keep Eunice and her family healthy.

I also want to have a steady income to help…my family.” In providing Eunice with this essential healthcare, she can focus more on being a mom.
