Ly Huor is an 18-month-old boy from Cambodia. He lives in Kampong Speu Province with his twin brother and his aunt, who is a rice farmer. His parents work in garment factories in the city. He enjoys playing with toys alongside his brother. During Khmer New Year 2026, Ly Huor accidentally spilled hot water on his right hand, causing burns to his third and fourth fingers. The burns healed with scar contractures, limiting the movement of his fingers and making it difficult for him to grasp and hold objects. His family is worried that the condition could affect his hand development and make it difficult for him to hold a pencil when he starts school. When Ly Huor's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On July 15th, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to improve the movement of his fingers, helping him develop normal hand function so he can grasp objects, play, and learn more easily as he grows. Now, he needs help to fund this $652 procedure. Ly Huor's mother said, “It has been hard to see my son struggle to use his hand. I hope this surgery will improve his finger movement so he can grow, learn, and enjoy childhood like other children.”

Vitari is a 33-year-old mother of two from Uganda. She runs a small food business while her husband works as a carpenter, and together they work hard to provide for their family. She also helps support her wider family of nine siblings, adding to the responsibilities she carries. Vitari is currently expecting her third child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via caesarean section due to a high risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Fortunately, on September 8th, Vitari will undergo a C-section with the help of our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare. She is raising $214 to fund the surgery, which will ensure the safety of both mother and child. Vitari says, "I am a mother, a wife, and a woman who works hard to support my children and other members of my family. If I receive this support and successfully recover, I will return to my small business with renewed strength, hope, and gratitude. I will continue working hard to care for my children and support my family. I sincerely thank you for considering my plea and standing with mothers like me who have nowhere else to turn."

Oun is a 72-year-old house worker from Prey Veng province. She is married with four daughters, one son and ten grandchildren. She lives with her husband who is construction worker, and her oldest daughter, who is also a construction worker. She likes to listen to monks pray on the radio. About two years ago, Oun developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so is not able to go places on her own. When Oun learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On April 20th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Oun and her family are able to contribute $75 towards the cost of her treatment and need help raising $188 more to fund the procedure. Oun says: "I hope that after surgery my eye will feel better, that I will be able to recognize people, do housework independently, and venture outside safely."
