Brenda, a 16-year-old expectant mother from Uganda, lives with her widowed father and younger siblings. Our medical partner, the Kellermann Foundation, tells us that “Brenda is very sociable and enjoys talking and visiting with people in her village. When she can, Brenda helps earn money by working as a farm laborer, but her goal is to learn to weave mats and baskets.”
As a young mother expecting her first child, Brenda has a higher risk of an obstructed labor. She needs a caesarian section in order to avoid these potential complications, however, she is unable to cover the costs of surgery with her current income.
For $303, Brenda can receive this necessary procedure and three antenatal visits. After delivery, “Brenda wants to take care of her child well and hopes he or she will be able to go to school.”
“Thank you for the good heart of helping others like her,” Brenda’s family shares.
