Gatrude is a 55-year-old farmer from Uganda. She has five children. She works as a farm laborer to pay for her children’s tuition.
Gatrude experiences pain from a mass that has developed on her breast. For the past four months, this pain has prevented her from working. Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $196 to fund a mass excision surgery. $8 were subsidized by Gatrude. She will undergo treatment on February 3.
After treatment, Gatrude hopes to return to her community and continue working to support her family.
Gatrude says, “I have no words that express how grateful I am for the support towards my surgery. I pray that God continues blessing the donors.”

Gatrude underwent a mass removal procedure.
When doctors operated, they learned that the mass in her breast was actually cancer. They decided to perform a mastectomy. While this was difficult for Gatrude, she is grateful that she was able to be treated before her cancer spread. This surgery may have saved her life.
“Praise God that I was able to receive help,” says Gatrude. “With my husband not working, I did not know what I would do. Thank you and blessings to the donors.”
