“Oun misses cooking for her family and going to the pagoda on her own,” says our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre.
This is Oun, a 72-year-old woman from Cambodia who was diagnosed with mature cataracts in both of her eyes. Oun has seven children and 11 grandchildren. One of her favorite things to do is listen to traditional Khmer music on the radio.
Because of the clouded vision associated with having cataracts, Oun has had a difficult time taking care of her home and grandchildren.
$150 will pay for the surgery necessary to give Oun her vision back. Cataract removal is one of the safest and most effective types of surgery. If left untreated, however, Oun’s cataracts could lead to total blindness. Let’s work together to make sure that doesn’t happen!
