Pius is a one-month-old baby boy from Tanzania. He lives with his parents and two older sisters in Rhotia, a village in Karatu district. His parents are farmers who work hard to support their family, but their income is limited and often just enough to meet basic needs. Despite these challenges, they seek the best care for their newborn son.
Pius has clubfoot on the right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual and this causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. The pediatrician at the hospital where he was born referred his family to our medical partner’s care center, Kafika House, for specialized care.
Doctors will begin treatment for Pius on January 3rd. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund this procedure. After treatment, Pius has an excellent chance of achieving full mobility and growing up without limitations. His parents are committed to his recovery and are eager to see their son in good health.
Pius’s mother shared, “I’m glad we were referred to Kafika House. This is a blessing to us. We hope Puis’s legs will be okay.”
