Khun is a 60-year-old rice farmer with four sons, one daughter, and one grandchild. She likes to go to the pagoda to listen to monks pray and join ceremonies.
Three years ago, Khun developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurred vision and cloudy lenses. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, working, and going anywhere outside.
When Khun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On November 7, doctors performed a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, Khun will be able to see clearly again. Now, she needs help to fund this $292 procedure.
“I hope that I can see better,” she says, “so that I can easily plant vegetables around my home to support my family, look after my grandchild, and go places easily.”
