“Emmaculate believes and hopes that her life and that of their children will one day will be better,” writes Lwala Community Alliance about this 22-year-old mother of two from Kenya. “She hopes to achieve this by starting a small business after her safe delivery.”
Emmaculate is expecting a child and hoping to receive a medically attended delivery to reduce the risk of fatal complications at home. “Emmaculate became a widow after her husband died in August, 2014 from a long term illness that depleted almost all that they had,” the Lwala team continues. “Emmaculate’s neighbor describes her as a hardworking and a happy mother who has always ensured she is in good relationship with her neighbors. She is a member of a women’s group in their village where she tells us that they share their life experiences and economic development ideas.”
