Ebby is a 67-year-old retired primary school teacher and mother of eight from Kenya. For many years, Ebby served as a primary school teacher and looked forward to retirement as a season of rest and a chance to support her family. She liked farming and rearing chickens, something that she is struggling to manage at the moment.
Around 2021, Ebby began to experience troubling symptoms, including swelling on the right side of her neck, which gradually increased across the entire neck. As it progressed, breathing while sleeping became difficult, coughing during meals increased, and dizziness and discomfort with movement became more frequent. She was diagnosed with goitre, an enlarged thyroid gland. She cannot walk for a long distance or even carry heavy luggage. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, IcFEM Dreamland Mission Hospital, is helping Ebby receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on September 2nd. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $1,450, and she and her family need help raising the funds.
Ebby shared, “I am highly hopeful that this surgery happens and glory and honor to return to God and those supporting me to be blessed abundantly.”
