Eab is a 76-year-old woman from Cambodia. She is a widow whose husband passed away during the Khmer Rouge era. She currently lives with her granddaughter, who works as a grocery seller. She has three children, all of whom are married and live in nearby villages. In her free time, she enjoys listening to monks chanting prayers and visiting the pagoda when possible. Eab developed swelling, pain, and redness of the right knee one week after undergoing a right total knee replacement in July 2025. Due to an infected knee implant, she subsequently underwent surgical debridement in September 2025. Despite treatment, the infection has recurred, and she is currently experiencing a recurrent right knee prosthetic joint infection. To address the infection and prevent further complications, the surgical team plans to remove the infected implant, perform knee fusion, and apply an external fixation frame as part of her treatment. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On June 9th, Eab will undergo surgery that will help control the infection, relieve pain, and improve the stability of her leg. This is expected to improve her ability to move more comfortably and reduce ongoing complications. Eab's family can contribute $100, but needs help raising $500 more to fund her procedure and care. Eab said, “After the surgery, I hope I can walk more comfortably without pain. I would like to be able to go to the pagoda more easily, participate in religious activities, and be more independent in my daily life.”

Robinas is an intelligent 11-year-old boy who lives in Ethiopia with his parents and cousin. His father is a teacher who works hard to provide for the family, while his mother has been living with a chronic illness that has kept her at home for several years. Despite these challenges, his parents have remained committed to supporting both his education and his health. Robinas is on a full scholarship at a private school, where he consistently ranks among the top students in his class. His dedication and hard work have earned him several medals in recognition of his outstanding academic performance. Outside the classroom, he enjoys playing football, reading books, and spending time with his cousin. Robinas was born with hypospadias, a condition that causes urinary dysfunction. Although his parents noticed the condition at birth, they were advised to delay surgery until he was older, as the procedure would be safer once he had developed further. Over the years, the family visited several hospitals but were consistently told to wait. Eventually, doctors at a private hospital confirmed that Robinas was eligible for surgery; however, the cost was beyond the family’s financial means. They were then referred to a public hospital, where they faced a long waiting list. This prolonged waiting period has been emotionally difficult for the family, especially as Robinas has begun asking his father why he is different from other boys. After six months, the family finally received wonderful news. They were informed that Robinas had been referred for surgery at our partner’s medical care center, BethanyKids Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (BKMCM). Robinas is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on June 29th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,293 to cover the cost of his procedure and care. Robinas’s father shared, “Thank you so much for BethanyKids’s help with the children and for supporting my son. I feel terrible when I’m unable to afford that surgery, but the support means so much to us. Thank you again, God bless you all.”

Separa is a three-year-old girl from Ethiopia. She lives with her mother and her six-year-old brother. Her father left when she was one year old, and her mother has raised the two children alone ever since. Separa's health problems started when she was just six months old, when she began having trouble with her tonsils again and again. When she was one, she had surgery to help her. For about three months she was better, but then her symptoms came back, and this time they were worse. She snores loudly every night and breathes through her mouth, even during the day. At night, her breathing becomes blocked while she sleeps, and she suddenly wakes up gasping for air. Separa has enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is requesting $700 to fund a tonsillectomy for Separa, which is scheduled to take place on October 10th. Surgeons will remove her tonsils, hopefully relieving Separa of her symptoms and helping her live more comfortably. Separa shared, "I just want my daughter to breathe and sleep well. She has suffered since she was a baby. I pray this surgery ends it."
