Three months ago, Kakurungu developed a painful swelling in his right groin. The pain prevents him from walking long distances or eating full meals. He is also unable to lift heavy items. He visited our medical partner’s care center, Holy Family Virika Hospital, where has was diagnosed with a right reducible inguinal hernia. He is scheduled to undergo a repair surgery on November 30.
Kakurungu is 89 years old and a father of eight children. Both he and his wife are farmers who sell the surplus from their gardens. They need help to fund this $249 procedure.
After recovery, Kakurungu hopes to continue supporting his wife and himself.
“Even as much as I have pain, with God everything is possible,” says Kakurungu. “All will be well, since l have reached the Watsi office.”
