January is a chatty and social kid. He may only be nine-years-old but he’s already displaying his business savvy (and generous heart) with plans to “own a piece of land and grow many banana plants” when he gets older to help his mother.
One thing standing in the way of January’s dreams is limited mobility due to his club feet. This congenital defect makes walking very painful and will cause long-term joint problems if left untreated. January’s mother works at a beverage stand near their house to support him and his four siblings on her own. The income she earns is not enough to cover the cost of January’s surgery.

January received corrective surgery to treat his club feet and enable him to walk.
The operation was a great success! January needs a few more weeks of serial casting while the wounds heal, but even with the casts on, he is very happy and can’t stop smiling. He’s looking forward to being able to walk without pain and still talks about fulfilling his dreams of owning land and growing bananas.
