Baraka is a five-year-old boy from Tanzania, and the youngest of four children. His father is a livestock keeper, and his mother takes care of their home. Despite limited resources, Baraka’s parents are devoted to the health and happiness of their children.
Baraka has clubfoot on his right foot, a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual and this causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. When his mother noticed an issue with Baraka’s foot, she enlisted the help of a neighbor to make the long journey to our partner’s medical care center, Kafika House.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Baraka receive treatment. Doctors will begin clubfoot treatment on October 16th at Kafika House. After treatment, he will be able to walk easily. Now, Baraka’s family needs help to fund this $341 procedure.
Baraka’s mother says, “This came as a shock to us as it was our first time seeing such a condition, but we are happy that treatment is an option.”
