Kosal is a third grade student from Cambodia. He likes to read books in his free time, and his favorite subject in school is Khmer.
When he was one year old, Kosal had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in his left ear to perforate. For this reason, Kosal experiences discharge, itchiness, and hearing loss. He finds it difficult to communicate with his friends and family and cannot focus at school.
Kosal traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On June 5, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
His mother says, “I hope that my son will be able to recover and his ear discharge will stop and his hearing will improve.”
