Wilson is a 55-year-old man from the countryside of Uganda. Wilson is a small farmer with his wife Molly, and they grow food crops such as bananas, beans, and onions.
15 years ago, Wilson developed a hernia in his groin. When the hernia initially developed, Wilson thought taking medicinal herbs would help reduce it. Unfortunately, the hernia kept growing and over time has become very painful and affects his day-to-day life.
Through our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, Wilson is scheduled to undergo hernia repair surgery on June 7. The $229 requested will cover the total cost of the procedure.
Wilson is grateful to Watsi donors for helping him fund his surgery and access the treatment he needs. After surgery, Wilson hopes to continue with his farming and grow new banana plantains as well as his own tea.

Wilson underwent hernia repair surgery.
Wilson is looking forward to rebuilding his banana fields after his successful surgery for a hernia. He is no longer suffering pain and can work again. His doctors have advised him to slowly build up to a full day and be careful of heavy lifting. Over time, he should be able to work full time again.
“I am so happy to be able to work again,” says Wilson. “My wife has had to do so much of the work in the fields and now I will be able to help her. I am so grateful.”
