Louis is a young boy from Uganda. His grandmother has raised him since he was just two months old, after his mother left him in her care. His grandmother is a small-scale farmer. She loves him deeply and shared that he brings joy and companionship to her days, as he is the only person she stays with at home.
Since birth, Louis has had a hydrocele, which is a swelling in a sensitive area of his body. He frequently experiences pain when walking or even sleeping. What worries his grandmother most is that the swelling keeps growing. At our medical partner’s care center, Karoli Lwanga Hospital, doctors explained that Louis needs surgery to address the swelling and pain, and reduce the risk of other complications.
Fortunately, on December 2nd, Louis will undergo surgery, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $139 to fund Louis’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Louis’ grandmother says, “With surgery, I hope he will be better and continue growing well because this is the only thing that is affecting his health. I’m the only person taking care of him, yet I can’t afford his surgery. I kindly request your support.”
