Derrick is a five-year-old boy living in Kenya with his mother, father, and two older siblings. He is a smart and playful child who loves to learn.
Derrick’s mother became worried about his growth when she noticed that his legs were bowing sharply outward as he grew taller. She hoped that the condition would improve on its own, but sought medical help when she realized it was worsening and beginning to affect his walking. Doctors have recommended that Derrick undergo corrective surgery to protect against loss of mobility and allow him to live more comfortably.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,165 to fund Derrick’s surgery, which will be performed on July 3. Derrick’s mother is hopeful that this surgery will help her son live a normal life.
“I am appealing to you to assist my son get surgery as he was scheduled by the doctor,” his mother says.
