Chanrong is a 17-year-old young man from Cambodia who loves to dance. Every year, Chanrong looks forward to the Khmer New Year celebrations in April because he gets to dance at all the parties.
Chanrong was born with a rare congenital deformity called a meningoencephalocele (MEC), a sac-like protrusion of the membrane that surrounds the brain. MEC occurs when the neural tube does not close completely during fetal development.
Chanrong says he feels embarrassed by the facial disfigurement caused by his condition, which also puts him at continual risk for serious complications like meningitis or brain hemorrhage.
For just $375, we can cover the cost of the surgery needed to correct Chanrong’s condition. Let’s help give Chanrong the opportunity to live a healthier and more normal life!
