Rong, a 65-year-old man from Cambodia, is married with one son, six daughters, and 10 grandchildren. He enjoys visiting the pagoda, listening to the monks pray on the radio, and reading books.
One year ago, Rong developed a cataract in each eye. This has caused him blurred vision and he can’t see everything clearly, work well, or go outside on his own.

After a small-incision cataract surgery, and intra-ocular lens implant in each eye, Rong will be able to see everything clearly again. This surgery costs $225 and will be performed by the medical team at CSC.
Rong shares his hopes for after surgery: “I will easily read a book, and can go outside without disturbing another.”

Rong underwent vision-restoring cataract surgery.
Rong successfully had one of his cataracts removed in a short procedure, during which his clouded lens was taken out and replaced with a clear synthetic implant. The procedure went well, and Rong’s vision has already begun to improve and become clearer.
Though he was scheduled to have cataracts removed from both eyes, he has yet to return for the second surgery.
For any number of reasons, it can often take patients some time to return for follow-up care. Patients frequently live far away or have important family matters that keep them from coming back to the clinic. When Rong returns, the surgery to remove the cataract from his other eye will be free.
