Junior is a five-year-old boy from Tanzania. His parents are seasonal farmers who cultivate rice for food and sell some surplus harvests for income.
Junior was diagnosed with windswept deformity, where his knees are misaligned. This condition makes it very hard for him to walk, as he feels pain in his knees and uses a lot of energy to balance his body while walking and standing. Several factors could cause this condition, such as growth disorders, vitamin deficiencies, or excessive fluoride found in contaminated drinking water.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $880 to fund corrective surgery and treatment for Junior at their care center, Kafika House. The procedure is scheduled to take place on July 2nd. Treatment will hopefully restore Junior’s mobility, allow him to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease his risk of future complications.
Junior’s father says, “I hope Junior’s future life will be better. We are hopeful that he will be better.”
