Arkam is seven-year-old primary school student from Tanzania. He lives with his grandparents while his parents work in another region of the country. Both his grandparents along with his parents, work together to provide for his needs. However, the grandparents also care for three more grandchildren. Arkam was born with a congenital condition that limits the full use of his fingers on both hands. Despite making efforts to seek treatment, the family encountered difficulties due to the high cost of medical expenses. In 2023, they reached out to our medical partner's care center Kafika House and were invited for a review. Earlier this month, Arkam was brought to Kafika House by his grandfather for consultation. Specialist surgeons at the center have proposed a contracture release and skin graft to help him gain use of his fingers. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Arkam receive treatment at their care center Kafika House. On March 6th, surgeons will perform a contracture release surgery to enhance the functionality of his hand. Now, his family needs help to fund this $874 procedure. Arkam’s grandfather says: “I hope my grandson will be able to use his hand because it will make it easier for him while in school.”

Rossette is a 35-year-old housewife from Uganda. Her husband works in a retail shop and supports his wife as she has not been able to find a job. During her free time, Rossette enjoys visiting her friends. Rossette is currently expecting her first child. She received antenatal care at Rushoroza Hospital, where her doctors recommended that she deliver via a Cesarean section because of breech presentation at term. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Rossette undergo a C-Section on March 1st. This procedure will cost $214 and Rossette needs your support. Rosette says, “I hope I will have a successful surgery with a positive outcome. After complete recovery, I will continue to search for a job. May God bless you.”

Linn is a 29-year-old man from Burma. He lives with his siblings and works at a store with his younger brother. In his leisure time, Linn enjoys expanding his knowledge through internet-based learning. Linn has been experiencing persistent back and chest pain, affecting his ability to perform daily tasks. After an ultrasound and x-ray, doctors diagnosed him with large renal stones and recommended the need for surgery. For the doctors to formulate an appropriate treatment plan, they want Linn to undergo a CT scan, a procedure in which X-ray images taken from several angles are combined to produce cross-sectional images of the body. Our medical partner, Burma Children's Medical Fund (BCMF), requests $469 to cover the cost of Linn's CT scan and care, scheduled for March 4th. Lin said, "I am grateful for the opportunity to receive support from BCMF. Without their assistance and the generosity of donors, I would be unable to afford the necessary treatment."
