Amoni is a three-year-old boy from Tanzania. He is the youngest child in a close-knit family of nine and is known for his energetic and talkative nature. Amoni loves interacting with others and brings joy to his family with his playful personality.
Amoni was diagnosed with bilateral genu valgus. His legs bow inwards, causing his knees to touch. Several factors could cause this condition, such as growth disorders, vitamin deficiencies, or excessive fluoride found in contaminated drinking water. As a result, the knees can be angled inwards or outwards, making it difficult to walk and may cause long-term joint damage. His parents noticed the bowing of both his legs when he was around two years old, shortly after he began walking. As the condition progressed, walking became increasingly difficult for him, bringing doubt to his parents as to whether he would end up living his life with a condition that would limit him.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $777 to fund treatment for Amoni. The procedure is scheduled to take place on January 21st at our medical partner’s care center, Kafika House. Treatment will hopefully restore Amoni’s mobility, allow him to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease his risk of future complications.
Amoni’s father says, “I hope my boy will get treated and will live a good and comfortable life.”
