Birungi is a second-year midwifery student from Uganda. She is single and the ninth born in a family of 19 children. Some of her siblings have their own families and are self-employed, while her younger siblings are still in school.
About five months ago, Birungi noticed a swelling in her right breast while she was bathing. She reported her condition to the regional referral hospital. If not removed, the mass may continue growing, and this may result in pain and discomfort.
Birungi traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On March 28, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Birungi needs help to raise $196 to fund this procedure.
She says, “After surgery I will continue with my course of midwifery.”

Birungi underwent a mass removal procedure.
Birungi’s fibroadenoma excision was a success. She is no longer at risk of discomfort and pain. After recovery she will be able to continue with her studies.
She says, “My heart is full of joy and I am very excited for the support. After recovery I will continue with my studies and my performance is going to improve next term since what has been disturbing me has been removed.”
