Meet Laban, a three-week-old baby boy from Kenya. Laban was born with spinal bifida, a congenital defect which has left an open mass protruding from his spinal column. If left untreated, Laban has a high risk of infection and of developing spinal deformities.
Laban is the youngest of four children. His mother and father, small-scale farmers, are unable to raise the funds for Laban’s surgery. Still, Laban’s mother is hopeful for her baby’s future and says: “I had never seen this condition before and I was shocked when my son was born. I thank God that it is treatable and I pray that Laban will be treated so that we can go home.”
For $980, Laban can receive a surgery that will greatly relieve his discomfort and reduce the risk of infection or spinal malformations. Let’s help make Laban’s future happy and healthy!
