31-year-old Phionah is a mother of two from Uganda. Her two brothers and one sister all have families of their own, and are small-scale farmers. Phionah’s parents died when she was young, so she was only able to complete primary school. While she had hoped to become a lawyer, she was unable to fulfill her dream, becoming a farmer instead, once she married her husband.
Phionah is currently expecting her third child. Having already lost two children, her doctors recommend that she deliver via a Caesarean section, because of a higher-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Phionah undergo a C-section on December 4th, at Karoli Lwanga Hospital, Nyakibale. This procedure will cost $252, and Phionah needs your support.
Phionah shared: “It has never been easy for me getting out of the hospital whenever I am to deliver by surgery. I hope that with your support now, I can deliver well, and continue farming to sustain my family.”
