Eligarida is a 62-year-old woman, and a devoted mother of six children from Uganda. She lives with her family in a modest home, where they rely primarily on subsistence farming for their livelihood. Despite their hard work, the family’s income is very limited and barely meets their basic needs, including food, shelter, clothing, and healthcare.
For the past five years, Eligarida has been suffering from a mass on her foot, which was diagnosed as an infected lipoma. The condition that has progressively affected her health, mobility, and quality of life. During this period, she sought treatment from various health facilities and used different medications in the hope of finding relief. Unfortunately, her condition did not improve despite these efforts. She continues to experience persistent pain, swelling, recurrent infection, and difficulty walking, making it increasingly challenging for her to perform daily activities and contribute to her family’s farming work.
Concerned about her worsening condition, Eligarida went to our medical partner’s care center, Rushoroza Hospital, for specialised medical consultation and treatment. Doctors have recommended a minor mass excision surgery as the definitive treatment. Despite the urgent need for surgery, Eligarida and her family are unable to raise the required funds for the operation and associated hospital expenses. Their limited income from subsistence farming cannot meet the cost of the recommended surgical care.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. On July 16th, Eligarida is scheduled for mass removal surgery to treat her condition and restore her mobility, allowing her to continue caring for herself and her family. Now, Eligarida needs help to raise $134 to fund this procedure.
Eligarida says, “I humbly seek assistance for my treatment. By helping me access the surgery I urgently need, you will allow me to regain my health, walk without pain, become independent again, and continue supporting my family. Your kindness will restore hope and greatly improve my quality of life.”
