John is a 52-year-old farmer who lives in Uganda. He and his two wives have fifteen children, and subsist on the food that they grow for home consumption, selling what they can to earn additional income.
For the past three years, John has lived with a right inguinal hernia. He visited several clinics, but he was only given painkillers, which did not help. He also tried using herbal remedies, but they were ineffective. Over the past eight months, his condition has worsened; he can no longer lift heavy items, and he experiences lower abdominal and back pain.
John was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Rwibaale Health Center, for further evaluation. There, he was advised to have hernia repair surgery to alleviate his symptoms and to prevent any further complications. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $234 to fund John’s surgery, which is scheduled to take place on October 7th.
John said: “I hope to get relief from the pain and resume working on my farm.”
