Ayubu, a six-year-old boy from Tanzania, was born with bilateral clubfoot. This is a condition in which the feet turn inward, causing children much difficulty walking and doing everyday activities. In Tanzania, where children walk long distances to school, this condition often prevents children from getting an education.
When he was younger, Ayubu had treatment on his right foot, and has been recovering well. However, he now needs surgery and treatment for his left foot, which is still turned inward. $1,160 will fund the treatment he needs, which includes a small surgery, casting, and rehabilitation at the Plaster House.
It is expected that this treatment will be a success, and that he will rehabilitate quickly and return home walking with a normal gait.
“I am excited that both my feet will be corrected,” Ayubu shared.
