Prosper is a four-year-old boy from Kenya, the only child of his young parents. He recently joined a pre-school and his parents have great dreams for him. Both work as casual laborers - his mother washes clothes in the neighborhood, while his father works as a welder.
When Prosper was very young, his mother noticed that his umbilical area would swell whenever he cried. Recently, she observed that it also swells when he eats, and he often complains of pain. Concerned, she brought him to our medical partner’s care center, Nazareth Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a reducible inguinal hernia, a condition where when abdominal tissue bulges through an opening in the lower abdominal wall.
Fortunately, on November 11th, Prosper will undergo hernia repair surgery at Nazareth Hospital. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $517 to fund his surgery, allowing him to live a healthier life.
Prosper’s mother says: “Prosper is our only child, and my heart breaks every time I see him in pain. I seek your support so that he can be treated, and can regain his happiness”
