Aye is a 75-year-old woman from Ethiopia. Her husband and two of her four children have passed away. She lives with one of her sons, who is a farmer.
Four years ago, Aye developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her cloudy vision, reduced vision. This has impacted her ability to take care of herself, enjoy small things, or help around the house, forcing her to depend on her son.
Fortunately, on December 6th, Aye is scheduled to undergo cataract surgery with the help of our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital. Surgeons will remove and replace the blurred lens. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to raise $150 to fund this procedure.
Aye shared, “I hope to regain my eyesight soon. Even if I can no longer help on the farm, I want to be able to perform basic self-care and manage my own needs so that I am no longer a burden to my son.”
