Phen enjoys reading in her spare time, but reading has been difficult for her lately. Phen came to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Center, in the hopes of receiving help for her deteriorating vision.
“Phen started to lose her vision three years ago due to cataracts, and is now partially blind,” her doctors write. “She has had to stop selling cakes at the market because of her poor eyesight. She is unhappy that she cannot help support her family and relies on her daughter to guide her and assist her getting around.”
In order to prevent total blindness and to improve Phen’s eyesight, physicians recommend a procedure known as an extracapsular cataract extraction (or ECCE) posterior chamber (P/C) intraocular lens (IOL) for her right eye.
For $150, we can help fund the surgery that will remove the cataract from Phen’s right eye, and help her regain independence along with her vision!
