John is four-year-old preschooler from Uganda, the firstborn in a family of two children. His younger sister is three years old, and has not started school yet. His parents work as small-scale farmers, and the family lives in a single mud-built house.
Since birth, John has had an umbilical hernia. He experiences intermittent swelling and pain in his umbilical region. His father reports that the condition worsens after he eats food. Despite seeking help from various clinics, they have not found a solution to his condition and were advised to take him to a larger hospital.
John’s father brought him to our medical partner’s care center, Rwibaale Health Center. On January 21st, John has been scheduled to undergo hernia repair surgery to treat his condition, relieving him of uncomfortable symptoms and potential health risks. Now, John’s family needs help to fund this $234 procedure.
John’s father said, “I hope my son can find relief from his pain and get back to his studies after his surgery.”
