Emmanuel is a 12-year-old boy from Tanzania. He is the eldest among five siblings, growing up in a farming family that depends on cultivating crops to meet their needs. He is in the sixth grade. He is the kind of boy whose resilience inspires everyone around him. He loves farming, often helping his parents in the field, and enjoys playing with his friends whenever he gets the chance.
Emmanuel has clubfoot on his right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. The tissues connecting the muscle to the bones are shorter than usual, and this causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. In their community, clubfoot was often dismissed as a permanent disability, something a child must learn to live with. With no access to clear medical information, the family accepted the condition as fate until they met someone who received care at our medical partner’s care center, Kafika House.
Emmanuel’s family traveled to Kafika House, where surgeons will begin clubfoot treatment on November 27th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,119 to fund Emmanuel’s clubfoot repair. This treatment will gradually realign his foot and prepare him for surgery, opening doors to a future where he can walk, play, and work without pain or stigma.
Emmanuel shared, “I’m happy I have a chance to get treatment; this gives me hope that I will be okay in the future.”
