Seanglong is a 19-year-old young man from Cambodia. He lives alone in Phnom Penh, where he works as a mechanic. His family lives in Kampong Cham Province. He is the second of four siblings. His older brother is a third-year university student, while his two younger siblings are still in high school. His parents are rice farmers and continue to support the family from their hometown. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music and playing games. On May 6, 2026, Seanglong sustained an injury to his right lower leg after accidentally falling onto broken glass while working in a garage. The wound later became infected and required further medical care. After the injury, he initially received treatment at a hospital near his home, where the wound was cleaned and sutured, and he was then sent home. The following day, he sought further treatment from a nearby doctor and received home care for three days. However, the wound progressively worsened, becoming necrotic and developing discharge. He now experiences pain, infection, and necrosis, making it difficult for him to move and continue his work as a mechanic. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), is helping Seanglong receive treatment. On May 11th, surgeons at CSC will perform a debridement procedure to help remove pressure and infected tissue, control the infection, and support proper healing of the right leg. Now, Seanglong needs help to fund this $417 procedure. Seanglong said, “After the surgery, I hope that my leg will heal completely so I can return to my job as a mechanic and continue helping my family.”

Nalin is a 78-year-old retired tailor from Phnom Penh from Cambodia. She is widow whose husband died during Khmer Rouge, and has three children and 13 grandchildren. She lives with her youngest daughter who is a house maker. At home, she enjoys listen to the monks' sermon on the radio and take care of her grandchildren. Nalin is diabetic, and about a month ago, her right eye's retina detached, causing her blurred vision, redness and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Nalin learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for one hour seeking treatment. On February 25th, eye surgeons will perform a retinal detachment repair procedure in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, Nalin needs help to fund this $706 procedure. She says: "I hope that after my surgery, my eye will be able to see better than now. I look forward to being able to recognize places, and walk on my own.

Kakada is a 21-year-old university student from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and the eldest of four siblings. He lives with his mother, who works as a cleaner to support the family. One of his younger brothers passed away a few years ago due to illness, and his remaining siblings are still students. Despite financial struggles, he continues his studies in Information Technology and hopes to build a better future for his family. In his free time, he enjoys reading and listening to podcasts. Seven months ago, Kakada injured his right thumb while playing volleyball at school. The injury resulted in a dislocation that caused ongoing pain and difficulty using his hand for daily activities, including studying and writing. After the initial injury, he received conservative treatment with closed reduction at a local hospital and was discharged home. Unfortunately, the thumb dislocated again after he lifted a heavy object, worsening his condition and further limiting his hand function. Kakada was advised to seek care at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), by a relative. He traveled about one and a half hours to reach the hospital, to seek specialized care. On January 21st, surgeons at CSC will perform a reduction procedure to stabilize his thumb, relieve his pain, restore function, and allow him to return to his studies and daily life more comfortably. Kakada's family is able to contribute towards his treatment, but needs an additional $415 to fund the procedure. Kakada's mother says: “After the surgery, I hope that my son will be able to use his hand comfortably again.”
