Chan is a 68-year-old rice farmer with two daughters, four sons, and many grandchildren. Sadly, his wife passed away during the Khmer Rouge era and he now lives with his youngest daughter who is a farmer.
Three years ago, Chan developed a cataract in his right eye causing him blurry vision and tearing. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Chan learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On October 11th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Chan shared, “I hope my eye can see well after surgery so I can work in the rice field again. I want to be able to help my daughter more.”
